DESCRIPTION

The new IRS Form 1040 is much smaller but does not necessarily make life easier for taxpayers and preparers as it comes with six additional forms for specific situations. The new Form 1040 which reflects some changes introduced by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) will come into effect from the 2019 tax season. Taxpayers and practitioners must be fully aware of how to prepare and file the new individual income tax return form as 2018 is ending.

Apart from the changes in IRS Form 1040, the TCJA has brought various other changes and there are new sections, definitions and requirements in force. New provisions on tax credits, exemptions, property settlement, Section 199A and divorce also need to be considered.

This 120-minute session by Vicki L. Mulak, EA, CFP® will cover the impact of tax reform on the various sections of the Form 1040, Internal Revenue Code (IRC) changes, new tax legislation and related case law.
