DESCRIPTION
Paul Flogstad will discuss HUD's annual certification process that needs to be performed when one first applies for affordable housing. You will find out how to avoid the mistakes that are made most often. Paul will discuss the various HUD policies like the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), house rules, VAWA and EIV data. Paul will also provide informative and practical steps on resolving conflicts concerning incorrect EIV reports and income discrepancy.

Session-1: HUD Guidance on Criminal Activity, Screening, and Tenancy
Length: 45 minutes
This session will also include an exploration of all facets of correct screening of applicants.

Session-2: HUD'S Annual Certification Process
Length: 45 minutes
This session will discuss what changes you should look for, such as family composition, income sources and amounts as well as dates of birth and social security numbers for all family members. A discrepancy may suggest additional questions should be asked. This session will cover which questions should be asked that may lead to a reduced number of EIV Income discrepancies down the road.

Session-3: HUD Policy Checkup – TSPs, House Rules, VAWA
Length: 45 minutes

Paul will discuss common situations such as: failure to disclose income, erratic employment, residents claiming zero income, excluded income and residents receiving survivor benefits.
