On June 30, 2017, HUD issued Notice H 2017-05, “Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Reauthorization Act of 2013 – Additional Guidance for Multifamily Owners and Management Agents” and May 19 ,2017 HUD release of  new notice PIH 2017-08  provides guidance to Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) and owners on the requirements of the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013.,there have been clarifications, additional samples of forms and clearer procedures regarding the (VAWA) Reauthorization Act of 2013.

It is necessary to understand what VAWA and the HUD notice stand for, which will enable you to understand and implement the required actions that must be taken in order to be in compliance with these additional steps that are needed.

This session will help you prepare yourself according to the latest update issued by HUD, and you will find it easier to comply with additional samples of forms and clearer procedure. Our expert speaker Paul Flogstad will help earn how to write an emergency transfer plan, if and how you would decide to use waiting list preferences. You will learn how to determine eligibility for protections to victims, understand who is ineligible for protections, and when and if there should be a request for third-party documentation. You will also learn how long the manager would wait to receive said documentation, and how fair housing and nondiscrimination is involved. Paul will discuss Notice H 2017-05, PIH 2017-08  and HUD forms 5380, 5381, 5382 and 5383.
