DESCRIPTION
Finally, we are glad to hear that the Department of Labor has released the long-awaited Proposed Overtime Rules on March 7, 2019, replacing the Obama-era overtime rules. The delay was also due to a district judge issuing an injunction in 2017 to keep the rule from being effective.
For many years, overtime and minimum wage issues have taken center stage and legislation was about to go into effect in 2017 before legal actions from some states threw a spanner in the works. As a HR professional, business owner or leader, you must be wondering what the proposed rules mean for your organization.
The DOL’s proposed legislation will update the salary threshold and consequently impact many existing rules, regulations and requirements. Compliance can be tricky; therefore, organizations need to be alert, careful and updated.
