California law provides a rich, and often confusing, slate of parental leave entitlements. Understanding how they interact with one another is critical to balancing legal compliance with the effects that absenteeism can have on your workplace.

Back in 2002 California passed a law that provides paid family leave benefits to eligible workers paid Family Leave provides benefits to individuals who need to take time off work to care for a seriously ill child, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, spouse, or registered domestic partner.

With this New moms and dads get six weeks off at a little more than half their weekly pay — 55 percent, with a cap that's indexed to inflation each year. Paid Family Leave promotes health and economic security for women, men and children. Unfortunately, only 36% of voters are aware of CA Paid Family Leave, with especially low awareness among low income.

Our speaker will review the paid sick leave rules in California and how they interact with the “Kin Care” provisions.  Will also review provisions in California in regards to pregnancy and other parental leave requirements.
