DESCRIPTION

Too many workplaces believe that when they call 911, they step back—police and fire take over —the employer’s job is done.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Nine-one-one is a helpline number which is only to be used in emergency situations and which takes time to respond.

Police, fire and EMTs are not the first responders; employees are always the first responders. Turns out that police and fire need every workplace’s support and coordination if the employer is to achieve their duty of care to keep everyone safe. Through this webinar our speakers will make you interact with these procedures for all-hazards response to any emergency gets complicated not only for the employees’ initial response but for understanding and coordinating your procedures specific to that fire and police jurisdiction.

Learning Objectives:

  • What’s the first thing fire and police look for when they roll up to your workplace?
  • What’s the first question fire and police ask when they roll up to your workplace?
  • What’s your PD’s Active Shooter Protocol for your workplace?
  • Directions to, or the location of, a specific place.
  • Traffic accidents with property damage only and do not present a serious traffic hazard
  • What is your duty of care for working with your fire and police keeping everyone safe at your workplace?
  • How should your workplace be organized to receive and work with your police and fire?

The important things to remember when reporting any incident to 911 is:

  • Try not to panic, and if you can't help it then at least try to speak clearly
  • Answer the call-taker's questions patiently and completely
  • Understand that there is a reason for every question asked
  • Never hang up on 911!

Questions concerning laws, statutes, or ordinances. Do not call the police for legal advice that should be provided by a lawyer. The police are not lawyers and cannot offer legal advice due to liability concerns. Do not call EMS for medical advice.

During this session our expert speaker Bo Mitchell, President/Founder 911 Consulting, CEM, CPP, CBCP, CHCM, CHSP, CHEP, CHS-V, CSSM, CSHM, CFC, CIPS, CSC, CAS, TFCT3, CERT, CMC will take you through the steps what you should do when you call 911 and when to call 911.
