Too many workplaces believe that when they call 911, they step back—police and fire take over —the employer’s job is done.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Nine-one-one is a helpline number which is only to be used in emergency situations and which takes time to respond.
Police, fire and EMTs are not the first responders; employees are always the first responders. Turns out that police and fire need every workplace’s support and coordination if the employer is to achieve their duty of care to keep everyone safe. Through this webinar our speakers will make you interact with these procedures for all-hazards response to any emergency gets complicated not only for the employees’ initial response but for understanding and coordinating your procedures specific to that fire and police jurisdiction.

The important things to remember when reporting any incident to 911 is:
- Try not to panic, and if you can't help it then at least try to speak clearly
- Answer the call-taker's questions patiently and completely
- Understand that there is a reason for every question asked
- Never hang up on 911!
